Different Drug Tests to Determine Marijuana Use

The use of marijuana and its related drugs called cannabis is so high. People irrespective of their age groups are using this dreadful drug, which is causing severe problem to their health and also to the society. Marijuana stays for longer time in the body it is easy to know its presence by conducting any one of the four tests which are meant for marijuana, depending upon the need.

These tests are especially encouraged for employment, schools, traffic incidents, legal requirements and so on. These tests will be conducted to determine two components, one is parent drug, and the other is THC metabolite, which is released by the body's chemistry after a drug is ingested.

The following are the four tests which are in use to detect marijuana abusers.

Urine Test: This test is used to determine the drug metabolites, but not the parent drug. The minimum time needed to identify the drug using this test is 2 hours and it also determines the drug which is consumed few weeks before. Presently this test is used for driving tests, pre employment tests, student tests and can be permitted as a court evidence for substance abuse.

Blood Test:
This test is used to detect both the parent drug and the drug metabolites of marijuana. It will detect marijuana use even if the test is conducted immediately after consuming it. Till two days after consumption, this test will detect the case. It is also used for all the pre tests and can be used as legal evidence.

Saliva Test:
This test is used to test only parent drug and can detect immediately after the drug ingestion. It can also detect the drug use from the past two days. Except in US it is used by some European countries for driving test.

Hair Test:
This test can detect drug even after 90 days of the drug consumption, but can only detect metabolites. The minimum time required to do this test is 5-7 days and this is not used for driving tests. For other employment, student and legal evidences this test is useful.
