Digital photography

Digital photography, as opposed to film photography, uses electronic devices to record and capture the image as binary data. As such, the images can be displayed, printed, stored, manipulated, transmitted and archived using various kinds of digital technology, including personal computers and the Internet. On the digital camera itself it is possible to view the recorded images immediately and to delete the ones not wanted.

Digital cameras now outsell film cameras and include features that are not found in film cameras such as the capacity to store many more images on a memory device than on a roll of film, the ability to record video with sound and functions to automatically and manually make edits to images and even delete images. Digital cameras in various forms are now found a great number of devices ranging from PDAs and mobile phones to vehicles through and even in space on the Hubble Space Telescope.

Multi-Functionality and Connectivity
Except for some linear array type of cameras at the highest-end and simple web cams at the lowest-end, a digital memory device (usually flash memory; floppy disks and CD-RWs are less common) is usually used for storing images, which may then be transferred to a computer later. Digital cameras can take pictures and sometimes additionally record sound and video. Some can be used as web cams, some can use the PictBridge standard to connect to a printer without using a computer, and some can display pictures directly on a television set. Similarly, many camcorders can take still photographs, and store them on videotape or on flash memory cards.

Theory of Acupuncture

Acupoints used in treatment may or may not be in the same area of the body as the targeted symptom. The Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) theory for the selection of such points and their effectiveness is that they work by stimulating the meridian system to bring about relief by rebalancing yin, yang and qi. This theory of Acupuncture is based on the paradigm of TCM and has no analogue in western medicine.

Body acupoints are generally located using a measurement unit, called the cun that is calibrated according to their proportional distances from various landmark points on the body. Acupoint location usually depends on specific anatomical landmarks that can be palpated. There are nearly 400 basic acupoints recognized by the WHO on the meridians. Many of these basic points are rarely used. Some points are considered more therapeutically valuable than others, and are used very frequently for a wide array of health conditions.

Location by palpation for tenderness is also a common way of locating acupoints (see also trigger point). Points may also be located by feeling for subtle differences in temperature on the skin surface or over the skin surface, as well as changes in the tension or "stickiness" of the skin and tissue. There is no scientific proof that this method works and some practitioners disagree with the method.

Body acupoints are referred to either by their traditional name, or by the name of the meridian on which they are located, followed by a number to indicate what order the point is in on the meridian. A common point on the hand, for example, is named Hegu, and referred to as LI 4, which means that it is the fourth point on the Large Intestine meridian.

Small Apartment Living

Living in a tiny or one or two room’s apartments at the time of apartment search is an unusual or unique experience. It offers the appliance of walking from one living place to another by merely moving around one or two rooms. Such simple approach can, of class, be both a boon and a worry. On one hand, tidying upward and putting items off becomes a fast task. And preparing a snack during your favorite video plan is well accomplished.

On the other hand, living out of one or two rooms can be mentally distracting. How popular is it to have the impulse to stop email while lying in sheet, merely because the desk is in simple opinion? I'm certain it's really popular. Then there are disturbances, such as the heap of filthy dishes in the sink, that insect their manner into your thought procedure while working on a significant document, easy because the dishes are in simple view. These distractions are the bane of living in a small space apartment (living away from the tiny place). But they can be minimized, and one of the best ways to do this is to separate the spaces visually with room dividers.

Starting off with the bedroom or the office, since these are two areas where mental distractions are the most unwanted. The cheapest way to divide a room up is by arranging the furniture in a way that creates distinct spaces. Using rugs in addition to this helps create visual focal points. If your small
apartments are oddly shaped, and you are left with little choice in furniture placement, don't worry. This is where room dividers come in. The three most common room dividers are:
  • Drapes and Curtains: You can purchase drape panels or a slice of fabric and clip-on drape rings. Then fall the drape from a pole that attaches to the cap. Sheer cloth is recommended for tiny spaces, since it will permit soft to filter through. For your sheet, you can still produce a canopy.
  • Bookcases or Bookshelves: Backless, freestanding bookcase that seem pleasing from both sides take superior room dividers. And they have the added welfare of acting as warehousing or storage. Place the bookcase between two of your life spaces and spot objects that seem delight from both sides on the shelves then it will definitely adds a look to your small apartment.
  • Folding screens: Folding screens are a better selection, because they are flexible, adaptable and versatile. You can easily move them around and play with the furniture arrangement. And the one main advantage is that they don't take up much space.

Thermal Mass And Properties required for good thermal mass

Thermal mass, in the most general sense, is any material that has the capacity to store heat. The following discussion pertains to its functional application in ecologically sustainable building construction. When used correctly, it can significantly reduce the requirement for active heating and cooling systems and the consumption of active solar, renewable energy and especially fossil fuel technologies.
Ideal materials for thermal mass are those materials that have:
  • High specific heat,
  • High density
  • Low thermal conductivity.
Such materials are able to slowly store or release (low thermal conductivity), relatively large quantities of heat per unit volume (high volumetric heat capacity) compared to other materials.

Thermal mass should not be confused with insulation. Materials used for insulation typically have much lower thermal conductivity than materials used for thermal mass and generally do not have a high capacity to store heat. They can reduce unwanted heat transfer but are not significant sources of heat in themselves. Often a combination of good insulation and thermal mass is used to achieve an optimum solution.

When correctly incorporated in building construction, it can be a useful method of controlling the flow or storage of heat to maintain thermal comfort.

The historic use of thermal mass in housing has been well established in hot arid climates or warm temperate regions. In cold temperate areas, it must be combined with good passive solar design to be effective. Its use in hot, humid areas is controversial.

Many building contain 'incidental' thermal mass e.g. timber frame, plasterboard and furniture. Specific materials that are used to increase thermal mass include clay brick, mud brick, stabilized or rammed earth, stone, concrete and water.
