Correcting Your Misaligned Jaw

The misalignment of jaw is mainly due to abnormalities in the temporomandibular join.

Reasons for misalignment of jaw
  • Mismatch of teeth on upper and lower jaw
  • Muscle spasm
  • Disorder of synovial joints
  • Injuries during accidents
  • Bruxism of teeth
What are the problems with jaw misalignment?

How jaw disfunction is diagnosed?

What is the treatment?
The treatment for misaligned jaw depends on the severity of abnormality. If the misalignment is due to stretching during yawning, it can be relieved by taking soft foods, by avoiding chewing gums and taking over the counter medicines. If it is due to bruxism, you can go for following techniques.
  • Wearing mouth guards - It helps to prevent the upper and lower jaw come closer. This is suitable if the jaw is disfunctioning due to bruxism. Splints are also used. Splints are similar to mouth guards.
  • Occlusal equilibrium  - It is a fitted device to the jaw which helps to close the jaw completely.
  • Braces �It is used to straighten the teeth and fitted to both the jaws closely.
If the misalignment of jaw cannot be corrected by the above treatments. It can be treated by surgery. The surgery starts by giving anesthesia, and incision is made on the jaw to expose the jaw bone. Then manipulations are made and positioned to appropriate place and sutures are made. These sutures can be dissolved or can be removed in later days.

Complications after surgery:
  • Swelling of face for one week
  • Uncontrolled movement of lower lip
  • Injury of nerves

Food that is Not Good for Your Teeth

Eating habits of people like what and how they eat can have a great impact on oral health. Not only improper brushing and flossing can cause oral problems but also there are certain food that can be harmful for your teeth.

Food That Is Not Good For Your Teeth

Following is the list of food items that are not good for your teeth :

1) Sugary food: After consuming of sugary food, an acidic environment is created in your mouth as the bacteria in your mouth reacts with this kind of food, thus forming acid. This acid attacks the tooth and start dissolving outer layers of tooth. Regular consumption of sugary food is like bathing the teeth in acid, which can dissolve the enamel easily.

2) Acidic food: If you are consuming regularly the food that has high amount of acid can be very harmful for your teeth. Dental professionals suggests to rinse your mouth thoroughly after consuming such kind of food such as lemons, oranges, tomatoes, grape fruit etc.

3) Starchy food: Junk food or starchy foods like potato chips, pizza, pasta, burgers and white bread can easily get struck in between the teeth. The starch, these food contains will soon convert  in to sugar immediately after consuming of this food. Thus enamel of the teeth starts to become decalcified.

4) Soda drinks: Soda drinks are very bad for teeth, if regularly consumed. These drinks not only contains a lot of sugar, but also phosphoric and citric acid that can damage the enamel of the teeth. As these drinks contains artificial sweeteners, it can easily effect your teeth.

5) Pickles and ketchup: These can easily open up pores of your teeth enamel and your teeth gets easily stained

6) Sauces: Sauces like soy sauce and tomato sauce that are dark colored can easily stain your teeth.

7) Alcohol: Alcohol is one of the drinks that is bad for your teeth, because consumption of alcohol dries your mouth and saliva production is reduced. Saliva helps in defending cavities. So drying of mouth can increase the risk of cavities in your teeth. As alcohol contains acid, it can dissolve the enamel of the teeth. 

8) Chewable and sticky food: Chewable and sticky food will remain on the surface of the tooth for long time after consuming, thus saliva in your mouth can't come in contact with this tooth to neutralize acid. This can lead to tooth decay.

Effects of Marijuana Usage During Pregnancy

Marijuana also known as cannabis is the most commonly abused illegal drug in the United States. An active chemical is present in marijuana called delta 9 tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). Signs and symptoms of the marijuana addiction are feeling sleepy, lack of concentration, inflammation in eyes, cravings for sweat and increased appetite.

Regular use of marijuana can have adverse effects on the delicate group of people like pregnant women and the following are the effects of marijuana usage on the pregnant women:
  • Use of the marijuana by the pregnant women can cause the fetus to be born at a low birth weight than the normal children.
  • Fetuses exposed to marijuana and its components in uterus, can be born addicted to marijuana as well as suffering from developmental disabilities.
  • Fetus exposed to marijuana grows slowly when compared to the fetus which is not exposed to the same drug.
  • Women who smoke marijuana during pregnancy are at the risk of a spontaneous abortion or miscarriage.
  • Babies who are born to the mothers who used marijuana during pregnancy exhibit fetal alcohol syndrome, which has symptoms such as, problems with the nervous system, being born too small and abnormally shaped heads.
  • Marijuana not only effects the fetus but it also effects the mother who is abusing marijuana in many ways. It increases the heart beat, may also cause cancer because of the carcinogens present in it. Marijuana intoxication can cause distorted perceptions, impaired coordination, difficulty with thinking and problem solving, and problems with learning and memory.

The above effects are very detrimental for both mother and baby.

Necrophobia - Deadlier Than Death Itself

It is worst living in a fear of death. Everyone is going to die someday and I am sure nobody wants to die. But what is it worth living in fear of death and wasting present precious life.

Everyone should a healthy fear against something. It is appreciable. It helps people to live within limits. I believe it is some fear which is the major factor behind social life of billions of humans. And death is the major fear of all of those. It is this fear that helped humans to evolve as nature’s most wise living beings.

But when this fear crosses limits it is disastrous. People suffering from Necrophobia are seen living in panic for every minute and every movement. It is easy to die at once live dying every movement in fear of death.

If you are suffering from such phobia, it is positive thoughts that can help you come out of your fear. Avoid staying alone always. Mingle with pleasing people and learn what they do to motivate themselves.
