Vitamin B12 and its Deficiency

Vitamin B12, Cobalamin is a water-soluble vitamin, which plays an important role in the normal functioning of brain and nervous system.

Vitamin B12 is naturally manufactured by bacteria and generally found in animal products like fish, eggs, milk products, meat, liver, caviar, octopus, beef, lamb. It is not found in plant products but some may found in fortified breakfast cereals.

Vitamin B12 helps to abosrb Folic acid. It helps the body to produce energy by taking part in the formation of the blood, decreases the rate of heart disease.

The people with dietary deficiency, perinicious anemia, post-surgical malabsorption, Grave's disease and the people who use long term acid reducing drugs are at higher risk of vitamin B12 deficiency as they can't absorb it from food. To these people there is a need to have vitamin B12 injections intramuscularly, which passes directly in to the blood stream and thereby stomach.

Vitamin B12 deficiency occurs in vegetarians rather than non-vegetarians because the main food sources are animal products and the babies born to vegetarians are considered at higher risk of vitamin B12 deficiency. So supplements or multivitamins containing vitamin B12 are obtained in the form of capsules in order to overcome the deficiency of vitamin B12.

Deficiency of vitamin B12 is more common in older people compared to younger people.

Yoga can Control Type 2 Diabetes

With the increased popularity of yoga and the yogic exercises all over the world, researchers are also showing immerse interest towards it and are doing enough research on this topic. To their astonishment the benefits offered by yoga are in a wider range which encouraged them to continue their research. A similar story found about the control of Type 2 diabetes with the help of Yoga. Let us know some more information about the research.

The researchers conducted experiments on 60 patients who are suffering from Type 2 diabetes. They asked them to practice regular yoga and examined the level of disease after fewer yoga sessions. Finally this research helped them to prove once again that yoga can control diseases.

The experts recorded the blood sugar levels of the participants before and after yoga practice. They found that there is a controlled level of blood sugar after the practice of yoga and as a result they also reduced their weight. All the 60 patients were found to have reduced their body mass index from 25.9 to 25.4.

The study also found that regular yoga practice reduced the level of oxidative stress levels in the body, which generally occurs due to the increase of reactive oxygen species in the body. If yoga was not done by the participants the rise in those oxidative stress levels can result in various other health disorders.

So, aren't the researchers words enough to say that yoga is an effective form of doing regular exercise. Of course, yes. If we are going to treat one ailment in our body it is giving relief from many unknown ailments which may attack us in the later stages of life.

Some Useful Insurance Related Terminology You Need to Know

Definition: Insurance is a contract in which between two parties. One party agrees to undertake the risk or loss of the other party in exchange of certain amount of money and a promise to pay certain amount of money for the loss.

In other words, Insurance is an agreement between an individual and the insurance company in which the individual pays certain amount of money known as premium in exchange of which the company pays some money to the individual for the uncertain event.

Premium
  • Premium is a certain amount of money to be paid to the insurance company at a regular interval of time by the insurance holder.
  • Premium is a certain amount of money that is charged by the insurance company to the insurance holder to offer insurance service for the loss.
Indemnity: Benefit of a predetermined amount paid for a loss.

Insurable interest: An interest on a person or thing that will support the issuance of insurance policy.

Causality: Liability or loss resulting from an accident.

Net premium: the amount of premium minus the agent commission.

Agent commission: it is the incentive paid for the insurance agent, in addition to his salary. For managing the customer policy. This amount is paid at a percentage on the insurance premium.

Different Drug Tests to Determine Marijuana Use

The use of marijuana and its related drugs called cannabis is so high. People irrespective of their age groups are using this dreadful drug, which is causing severe problem to their health and also to the society. Marijuana stays for longer time in the body it is easy to know its presence by conducting any one of the four tests which are meant for marijuana, depending upon the need.

These tests are especially encouraged for employment, schools, traffic incidents, legal requirements and so on. These tests will be conducted to determine two components, one is parent drug, and the other is THC metabolite, which is released by the body's chemistry after a drug is ingested.

The following are the four tests which are in use to detect marijuana abusers.

Urine Test: This test is used to determine the drug metabolites, but not the parent drug. The minimum time needed to identify the drug using this test is 2 hours and it also determines the drug which is consumed few weeks before. Presently this test is used for driving tests, pre employment tests, student tests and can be permitted as a court evidence for substance abuse.

Blood Test:
This test is used to detect both the parent drug and the drug metabolites of marijuana. It will detect marijuana use even if the test is conducted immediately after consuming it. Till two days after consumption, this test will detect the case. It is also used for all the pre tests and can be used as legal evidence.


Saliva Test:
This test is used to test only parent drug and can detect immediately after the drug ingestion. It can also detect the drug use from the past two days. Except in US it is used by some European countries for driving test.


Hair Test:
This test can detect drug even after 90 days of the drug consumption, but can only detect metabolites. The minimum time required to do this test is 5-7 days and this is not used for driving tests. For other employment, student and legal evidences this test is useful.
