Yoga can Control Type 2 Diabetes

With the increased popularity of yoga and the yogic exercises all over the world, researchers are also showing immerse interest towards it and are doing enough research on this topic. To their astonishment the benefits offered by yoga are in a wider range which encouraged them to continue their research. A similar story found about the control of Type 2 diabetes with the help of Yoga. Let us know some more information about the research.

The researchers conducted experiments on 60 patients who are suffering from Type 2 diabetes. They asked them to practice regular yoga and examined the level of disease after fewer yoga sessions. Finally this research helped them to prove once again that yoga can control diseases.

The experts recorded the blood sugar levels of the participants before and after yoga practice. They found that there is a controlled level of blood sugar after the practice of yoga and as a result they also reduced their weight. All the 60 patients were found to have reduced their body mass index from 25.9 to 25.4.

The study also found that regular yoga practice reduced the level of oxidative stress levels in the body, which generally occurs due to the increase of reactive oxygen species in the body. If yoga was not done by the participants the rise in those oxidative stress levels can result in various other health disorders.

So, aren't the researchers words enough to say that yoga is an effective form of doing regular exercise. Of course, yes. If we are going to treat one ailment in our body it is giving relief from many unknown ailments which may attack us in the later stages of life.

Four Major Types of Yoga

Yoga combines breathing, meditation and controlled postures to relieve stress and develop physical discipline. Yoga merges body, mind, and spirit. There are four major types of yoga that are very popular these days.

Kundalini yoga: Yogi Bhajan of India, brought the practice of kundalini yoga to the West in 1969. Kundalini yoga focuses on the release of dormant energy, also known as kundalini energy. Kundalini yoga employs visualizations of spiritual energy, combined with breathing techniques, in order to allow free flow of kundalini energy. For example, dormant kundalini energy is imagined as a coiled snake at the base of the spine, which can only be released by deep breathing and a strong nervous system.

Bikram yoga: Bikram yoga was founded by Bikram Choudhury. He was a gold medal Olympic weight lifter in 1963. This yoga utilizes extreme heat in order to cleanse the body of toxins and increase circulation. It is a comprehensive type of yoga that workout on all components of fitness such as muscular strength, muscular endurance, cardiovascular flexibility and weight loss. Normally bikram yoga is practiced in a heated room between 95-105 degree temperature, which enhances flexibility, detoxification, and prevention of injuries.
