About $78 Million Spent in Online Advertising by Us Presidential Campaigns for 2012 Race

In the October 2012, US Presidential elections race, both the campaigns - Republican president candidate former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and President Barack Obama spent huge amount on online advertising that costed them double than the actual cost to build the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial.

According to the Federal Election Commission data Online Advertising for the 2012 presidential race increased a whopping 251% from four years ago.

An Online Marketing firm from the San Francisco reviewed the data and provided information in a Infographic way showing how the collective $78 million was spent during that time.

In the Infographic data, it shows President Barack Obama spent a total $52 million on online ads during his 2012 campaign and $26 million was spent by the Gov. Mitt Romney's campaign. From this, we can understand that President Barack Obama spent double amount on online advertisement than Gov. Mitt Romney for 2012 US presidential race.

One of the US Channels said that Barack Obama appears to have outpaced Romney in Google ad spend, budgeting twice as much for search advertising and 3 times as much for display advertising.

ReTargeter.com illustrated and pointed out that how much money spent by whom is compared to the actual costs to build Monument and Memorial. Each campaign spent almost cost nearly up to $28 million to build the Washington Monument and about $40.5 million to build the Lincoln Memorial.
