Deficiency of Vitamin B2?

Riboflavin is also known as Vitamin B2. It is a water-soluble vitamin that is easily absorbed by the body and is not stored for a long time in the body and is secreted through urine. Riboflavin helps the body's cells by converting the food we ate, that is, carbohydrates and proteins into energy. It is also essential nutritional substance required for proper functioning of the heart, muscles, and nervous system. Vitamin B2 is also needed to help the body change vitamin B6 and folate into forms it can use. It is also important for body growth and red blood cell production.

A deficiency of riboflavin can lead to problems like dry and scaling skin, fluid in the mucous membranes, and anemia caused due to iron-deficiency. The eyes may also become bloodshot, itchy, watery and sensitive to bright light, forms cracks and sores at the corners of the mouth, eye disorders, inflammation of the mouth and tongue, and skin lesion, dermatitis, dizziness, loss of hair, insomnia, sensitivity to light, poor digestion, retarded growth, and slow mental responses have also been reported, burning sensation of feet, fatigue, slowed growth, swollen magenta-colored tongue, soreness of the throat.

Riboflavin is important in preventing cataracts that is damage to the eye lens which leads to cloudy vision.

According to several studies, people who are taken riboflavin have reduced number of attacks of migraine.

However, if a person eats a proper balanced diet, the person can get rid of these diseases and can have a normal life.

And also your body uses only required amount of riboflavin and discards any excess through your urine.
