Know About Different Types of HVAC Systems

HVAC refers to Heating, Ventilation and Air conditioning systems which uses technology that ensures automated environmental comfort. It is designed to regulate the indoor conditions with respect to temperature and humidity and to maintain good indoor air through proper ventilation with filtration and provide thermal comfort.

There are different types of HVAC systems available at the residential and commercial levels. The type of equipment or the system varies depending on the user requirements and the options within the space.

Air-based HVAC system uses a fan to move the hot or cool air through a number of ducts that release the air into the different rooms. The air is heated by passing over a heated coil in case of a furnace or it is passed into a cooler in case of air conditioner depending upon the air temperature. The air is managed to circulate through the space by the fan, changing the air temperature.

A dual fuel HVAC system combines a heat pump and gas furnace. An external thermostat is used to know about the outside and inside temperature. The system then uses this information and makes the thermostat to change according to the ambient temperature.

Gas furnace and air conditioners are coupled to make a complete heating and air conditioning system. Here the gas furnace use natural gas as the primary fuel and the heat is generated through the combustion of gas. Air conditioners use the same process of cooling the air, where the air is passed to a cooling coil instead of heating coil.

A heat pump is also a common type of HVAC system used in homes. Generally, the heat pump has an outdoor compressor and an indoor handler. The air is moved using an electric power. With the use of fans, the air is then circulated through the space. While in cooling, this same pump is used to cool by removing the heat from the home and transfers hot air to the atmosphere.
